Neil Gaiman has written some really amazing stuff from Sandman to Stardust. Robert Zemekis has created some really amazing movies from Back to the Future to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. So you put these two creators together and you expect Who Framed the Dream King, or Back to the Stardust but what you end up getting is a computer animated Beowulf.
Beowulf is an early folk tale type of epic that at its heart is: "Boy meets monster. Boy kills monster. Boy meets monster's mother." The story is set one of the most unappealing times and places where everything is mud, dirt and ugly art. While the tale is considered one of the most important works early anglo-saxon poetry it is still a product of it's time and making a movie about it is still a little like polishing a rock. That is, it's going to take a lot of work to make it shine. |

'Tis the season to be jolly, filled with mistletoe and holly! And mistletoe means kissing, or so tradition holds. So what do you do when your year long crush heads over to you with a branch of mistletoe in hand? Or even worse, how do you handle it when the person who has been crushing on you all year long rushes over with the mystical branch in tow? Don't fret. Relax! Kissing seems to be a regular part of the winter holidays and many otherwise shy people use the old mistletoe tradition to get smooches from their crushes without putting their feelings out on the line. With this in mind, how should you handle the old mistletoe approach? Rather than running away in panic, when you find yourself under the mistletoe, quickly examine the situation and then use the tips outlined below.  |
